PHIL VAN is a DP living and working in the independant film and commercial community in New York City. He has worked as a Director of Photography for the last 4 years, as well as a camera operator and gaffer on over four dozen films, commercials and industrials for independent filmmakers and clients such as Kenneth Cole, Macy's, Esquire Magazine and Koch Records..

With a background in film and literature from Cornell University, Phil is working professionally while finishing his final year in NYU’s graduate film program, fully subsidized by a Tisch School of the Arts Fellowship.

Phil has trained with skilled professionals such as Sandi Sissel, ASC, Tony Jannelli and Peter Stein, ASC. This year he is training with Jim Sheridan’s frequent DP, Declan Quinn, ASC.

Experienced with 35mm, 16mm, s8mm, HD, DVC Pro, and DV formats, Phil’s goal is to visually craft your project with the full integrity and spirit of your vision, while making it aesthetically compelling, artistically relevant and enduring.
